Indian Herbal Rinse for Stronger Hair
Method 1
Ingredients:
2 Tbsps. Amla powder
2 Tbsps. Shikakai powder
2 Tbsps. Soap nuts powder
Several drops Mint essential oil (or rosemary)
Some Hot water
Instructions:
Mix the herbs in a glass jar and add the hot water. The consistency has to be a thick liquid. Shake and stir well. Next, add the essential oil and stir again. The shelf life of the mixture is up to 1 week. Apply on dry or moist hair and leave it for several minutes. Next, rinse off with water. You can use this as a strengthening hair mask – just put on a shower cap and wrap the head with a towel. Leave the mask to work for several hours (or as much time as you have) and rinse off.
Method 2
Ingredients:
1-2 tsps. Amla powder
1-2 tsps. Shikakai powder
1 Tbsp. Soap nuts powder
1 Tbsp. Hibiscus blossom powder
1 cup Water
Instructions:
Place the ingredients in a metal pot and heat them. Stir well and let the mixture simmer for 15 minutes. Take the infusion off the heat and let it cool off. Next, strain and pour in a suitable container – a bottle or an old shampoo container. Shake well until it forms bubbles. Apply on the hair and leave for 5-10 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water. Store any remaining liquid in a fridge for not longer than a week.
Method 3
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. Amla powder
2 Tbsps. Shikakai powder
2 Tbsps. Fenugreek powder
2 Tbsps. Hibiscus blossom powder
1 cup Boiling water
Instructions:
Mix the herbs in a bowl and add the water. Stir well and cover the container with a lid. Leave the herbs to steep for 30 minutes and strain. Pour in a suitable container. Use the rinse as usual – apply on the hair and leave it to work for 4-10 minutes and wash off. Store any remaining liquid in a fridge for not longer than a week. Important – this blend might slightly change the color of blond hair.
Note: fenugreek contains large amounts of phytoestrogens which can be absorbed through the skin – consult with a doctor or a herbal specialist in case you have any health issues related to your female hormone secretion – PMS, menopause, ovarian cysts, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, etc.
