Best Nourishing Hair Oil Blend
Here's a quick and easy recipe for you DIY types out there! Good news: you don't need to melt anything on the stove or pull out your mixer.
While this mix would work year-round, what makes this a wintertime blend for me is the lower coconut oil content. For a warm weather blend, feel free to double the amount of coconut oil. However, when it's chilly outside, coconut oil hardens, and I prefer not applying products that must be melted during this time of year. Too much coconut oil in a mix will solidify in cooler temperatures. As a personal choice, I don't want to have to run hot water over my container to melt it sufficiently every time I use it.
Nourishing Hair Oil Blend 1
Ingredients:
1 1/2 Tbsp. Argan oil
1 1/2 Tbsp. Almond oil
2 tsps. Grapeseed oil
6 drops Lavender essential oil
5 drops Yarrow essential oil
4 drops Rosemary essential oil
5 drops Cedar essential oil
Instructions:
Simply mix the oils and blend them well. Store in a dark glass container in a dark and cool place. Apply on the hair (especially on the ends) and leave the oils to work for about 30-45 minutes. Note: All the oil blend recipes can be transformed into crèmes and lotions. If you prefer this option just follow these instructions:
First, warm the carrier oils in the double boiler.
Second, when the oils are fully melted and blended add some vegetable emulsifier. For about 5 Tbsps. carrier oil, add 1 Tbsp. emulsifier. Stir until the ingredients are fully melted and blended.
Third, slowly add equal quantity distilled water or flower water (Rose, Lavender, Neroli, etc.), and continue stirring. For best results and for the process to be seamless, warm the water to the same temperature as the oils.
Finally, take the mixture off the heat and continue stirring. Now add the essential oils and blend the ingredients one last time. Pour the mixture in the desired container and store in the appropriate place.
